God’s word: unpredictable

Note: this is an old  weather image

Verse of the Day

[Let’s Argue This Out] “Come. Sit down. Let’s argue this out.” This is God’s Message: “If your sins are blood-red, they’ll be snow-white. If they’re red like crimson, they’ll be like wool. If you’ll willingly obey, you’ll feast like kings. But if you’re willful and stubborn, you’ll die like dogs.” That’s right. God says so.

Isaiah 1:18 MSG

Today is day 36 of the rest of my life.  I started the book of Psalm on Sunday.  I’m not sure what to think yet, the chapters are short.  I’m beginning to realize that I like the books that tell a story.  I didn’t like numbers too much because they did a lot of counting.

Sunday was day 35 of my workout routine.  Still pushing through trying to keep active, some days are harder than others.

How many of us complain when something doesn’t go the way we plan.  I am so guilty of that.  How many of us complain when the weather is not perfect.  We each have our own likes and dislikes about the weather.  The weather plays a huge part on if I can get outside and enjoy different activities.

After reading the book of Job, I feel so ashamed.  Yes, it is disappointing when something we had planned is messed up due to something in our lives or the weather.

Speaking of the weather, how many of you blame the meteorologists when their weather predictions don’t come true?  Do you know that they are actually relying on computer models to predict the weather?  Only God knows what will happen and when, the meteorologists are there just to give us a heads up as to what might happen with the weather.

He lets loose his lightnings from horizon to horizon,

lighting up the earth from pole to pole.

In their wake, the thunder echoes his voice,

powerful and majestic.

He lets out all the stops, he holds nothing back.

No one can mistake that voice—

His word thundering so wondrously,

his mighty acts staggering our understanding.

He orders the snow, ‘Blanket the earth!’

and the rain, ‘Soak the whole countryside!’

No one can escape the weather—it’s there.

And no one can escape from God.

Wild animals take shelter,

crawling into their dens,

When blizzards roar out of the north

and freezing rain crusts the land.

It’s God’s breath that forms the ice,

it’s God’s breath that turns lakes and rivers solid.

And yes, it’s God who fills clouds with rainwater

and hurls lightning from them every which way.

He puts them through their paces—first this way, then that—

commands them to do what he says all over the world.

Whether for discipline or grace or extravagant love,

he makes sure they make their mark.

Job, chapter 37

Remember that life is as unpredictable as the weather.  We don’t know what’s going to happen, and when we just have to be prepared for anything and everything as best we can be.
